Date November 14, 2010

Brooklyn Public Library, New York City

The central branch of the Brooklyn Public Library was designed to resemble an open book, two wings stretching out along the bordering streets, with the main entrance located at their hinge. Inside is the heart of one of the nation's largest public library systems; the Central Library alone contains over 1.5 million books, magazines, and other materials. It also contains the Brooklyn Collection, an assortment of references and ephemera that chronicle the history of the borough, and a Multilingual Center for non-English speakers and linguistic scholars. A cafe on the first floor sells coffee and snacks, while a restaurant on the third floor (open weekdays only) sells cafeteria-style meals. Internet access is freely available throughout the building.

It's been a while since Warren Ray has made contact with Savannah, but days after the 8th, he's decided to call in yet another person he intends to involve in his plan to repair the city, and the image of Evolved. Savannah has been called into the Brooklyn Public Library, far in the back of the research room. There aren't many people late on a monday morning, so it's an opportune place to discuss things. He's in a black suit like the last time she saw him, reading an anatomy book at a large table.

Savannah Burton is never without a notebook when it comes to meetings. She heads to the research room, a bit curious as to why Warren had asked to meet her. And when it comes to Savannah, curiosity is just enough to draw her like a moth to flame. She steps into the research room, shifting the long white scarf she wears around her neck as she moves to take a seat at the table next to Warren.

"Hello Miss Burton." Warren smiles, nodding over to her as he sits his book down. "A lot of things have changed since we last spoke. I've gotten a lot more control over my life, and now I'm ready to give you an opportunity to, if not change the world, then change the city."

"Change the world? Change the city?" Savannah steeples her fingers, looking over at Warren. "Those are two very big and very tempting things. And I like to know I'm making a difference in the world for the better, so it's incredibly tempting. What are you suggesting, Mr. Ray?"

"I'm starting a group that will be solely focusing on repairing the city, improving the image of Evolved, and making sure that there's continued equality for both Evolved and non-Evolved. The purpose of my group is to restore and maintain order." Warren reaches into his jacket and slides over a newspaper, one from a few weeks ago. "University Woods was a product of my group. What I want you to do is write an anonymous blog, about your observations of Evolved, your balanced political views. And when things like University Woods happen, you attribute it to Evolved, not an organization, but the entire race gets credit. I have someone to make sure that your identity can never be discovered."

"Improving the image of the Evolved is something I'm definitely interested in. Given the events of the 8th, I think people are more fearful than ever." Savannah notes, pursing her lips as she looks at the newspaper. "A blog? Well, that's an interesting idea. I wouldn't mind doing a blog. And really, the internet's a good platform for things. You really think me blogging about the Evolved, anonymously, is going to make progress?"

"You're a published author, you know how to speak to people, and you're completely unbiased. Being anonymous is for your safety, and I think your skills and views will speak for themselves." Warren offers his hand, as if to seal the deal. "I can keep in contact with you, give you suggestions, and in the meantime, you write whatever comes to mind. Decide what you want for the blog, and I'll get it all set up with my contact and get back to you."

Savannah nods a bit. She is, after all, a bit of a figure and this would allow her to be a bit more outspoken in a field other than in her books. Kam would certainly like that. "Alright, that sounds like a good deal." She offers forward her hand with a bit of a smile. "I'll certainly think about this a lot… it's a great opportunity."

"I'm glad you're considering it. You're the only person I know who could fulfill this role so well." Warren gives her hand a firm shake, then starts to stand, offering a card with his name, a number, and Shalegate Machine Factory on it. "You can find me there, if you ever lose access to a phone."

"I'm flattered you have such belief in my talent, Mr. Ray." Savannah glances down at the card, giving a small nod. "I should hope I don't get in a situation where I don't have any access to a phone, but I'll certainly remember that." She tucks the card away in her notebook, getting to her feet.

"I'm flattered that you're flattered." Warren laughs, reaching down for his book before he stands and heads down the aisle of tables. "I'll see you around, Ms. Burton." He flashes a smile back at her, then faces ahead.
