ROOSEVELT ISLAND, Manhattan — On the evening of the ninth, residents of Roosevelt Island were disturbed from their sleep when a street party went on into the night and into curfew. When the NYPD were brought in to break up the crowd, violence escalated when some citizens reacted violently in response to crowd-control tactics imposed by the police. Two police officers were critically burned, one of which was reportedly attacked by an Evolved pyrokinetic. Jean Marie, age 23, was killed by gunfire when her Evolved ability became out of control after attempts to subdue her with tear gas failed. Five other arrests were made, with the remaining crowd scattering.
